NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I was treated really well until I signed a contract. After the contract was signed everything changed. Nothing bad happened, but I was treated like they were doing me a huge favor by renting me the space.
If you rent from them expect only your room and nothing else. They barely clean the place and they put very little of the money back in the space to maintain the facilities. If you ask them for help with anything they will not help you unless it benefits them.
They have great rooms that look nice. You can bring any vendors you want and your own alcohol. Is it worth it?
If I had it to do over I don't know that I would choose them again. Not a place that trys at all to make a bride feel special.
If the customer service was better this would be a great space. If you have a great experince with the staff before you sign a contract do not expect it to last.
Rude and bad business practices.
This is more of the same on this site....
My daughyer has been owed $1350 for 90 days. There is a contract that says they owe the $$ yet I was told today by Scooter Davis that they could hold my $$ for years if they wanted to.!! Furthermore she exclaimed.. I am not part of the investment group and therfore was not responsible to get my money back. I have tried to find a way around her but there is no other contact to pursue. I tried the BBB.
Despicable Business and Customer relations.
Scooter & Jane were NOTHING but rude to us since our first visit in June 2010.
They do not keep to their word and would rather stand around and gossip rather than get anything done.
I would not recommend doing business here for any reason what so ever.
Save your money and find another place! A place where you will be treated with respect AND a place where will get your deposit back!
My husband and I chose to have our wedding reception at the Mellwood because we loved the event space that they offered. We paid all the fees on time and held our event in event room 3. When you pay the fees for the room you have to pay a $350 damage deposit which in our contracted stated that we would receive back in 30 days....our reception was held in October and it is now the end of January and no deposit has been sent .
I have called and spoke with Scooter on three different occasions to inquire about it and each time I was given a different excuse of why I haven't received it yet. The last time I called Scooter was so rude and so unprofessional that I would never ever do business with the Mellwood again and would discourage anyone else from doing so also. She told me that she had not spoke with me the last time that I had called and said that $350 wasn't really a big deal and that she had no control over the office that processed the refunds.
My suggestion to the Mellwood is they need to get a new events coordinator that knows how to deal with the pubic and has some class.
BEWARE OF MELLWOOD ARTS CENTER and SCOOTER DAVIDSON.
My wife and I were married in early to mid April 2010, and chose Mellwood Arts Center, Event Room #3. We paid all fees and deposits required to rent the facility. Our contract said we'd be refunded our deposit in "30 days!" After the 1st week of May, we contacted Scooter Davidson, the Director and manager for Mellwood. Her tone was markedly different from what it had been prior to our event. Before she had been kind, helpful and considerate and allow us additional time to pay deposits and all other associated fees and costs. Worked with us to insure we had everything in place. But this was a different Scooter Davidson. She completely lied and misrepresented the terms of the contract, construing them to mean 30 "business" days, which was completely false! She told my wife they send deposits out between the 20th and 30th of the month. So now it's June 9th, still no deposit refund!
So now, I seek assistance from a neutral third party, who initially got her attention. However and ultimately, I was no better off than when I started. So now I'm faced with paying fees for an attorney, including filing fees of $44, almost 25% of our deposit! I'll get my deposit back, but I shouldn't have to go through this for something that's rightfully mine and is owed to me!
