Tips for Vince Staten's Old Time Bbq

Do NOT recommend. I went to Staten's today for lunch with my mother and the service was terrible. They are definitely not there to please the customer. If you have a special request, forget it. Even McDonald's loves to see you smile - not Staten's. I'd rather eat McDonald's. The food was okay -although the banana pudding seems a bit artificial with a couple slices of bananas and stale cookies. The potato salad is the best on the menu although pretty greasy (yes the potato salad is greasy). The dining room was also disgusting and the high chairs are not equipped with working straps. We will not return.

One of the best BBQ stops in the state of Kentucky. Great food! that is all that needs to be said about one of the best BBQ stops in the state of Kentucky.

They focus on the food at Vince Staten's Old Time BBQ so do not expect any fancy tables of waitresses to serve you, but the food is out of this world.

Excellent Service!!!!. Not only is the food absoluteyl amazing, but the person that took my order, the person that made my order, and the person that gave me my order are equally amazing. And the banana pudding is fabulous! Also fabulous is the pulled pork with texas sweet and texas hot, the barbecue beans, the chocolate oreo pudding, and the ribs. So overall, this fantastic restaurant is definitely worthy of several visits, especially on tuesdays all you can eat rib nights. Enjoy!

Vince's moved in Nov. 05. All,

It's not on 9219 US Hwy 42 anymore, although the plaza still has the sign up. It's now at 13306 West Highway 42, Prospect, KY, which is down the street I'd say about a mile in a small plaza on the right.

Visiting here on business and ate there tonight. The BBQ is pretty good. I had the Staten's Sampler which is a mountain of pulled pork, chicken, and beef. I'd say the pork and chicken was top notch, and I'd pass on the beef. I recommend their Texas Sweet Sauce or Jack Sauce. Also, the Chocolate Oreo pudding was great.

I'd say the 9.2 rating is a bit high for this restaurant, but like a previous reviewer said, the BBQ is on par with other BBQ restaurants here in KY. Also try Famous Daves, and Smokey Bones. I actually like Smokey Bones the most. It's a chain but it is very tasty.

Don't worry about. ambience. .. The food & sauces are comparable to any barbecue place, anyWHERE, and have compared the competition (in different states) to what Vince has to offer. .. Maurice (Bessinger), in Columbia, SC, has an exceptional MUSTARD-based sauce, but his ribs are NOT the equal of Staten's, to be sure. .. Vince's side dishes, incl. the banana pudding, are very fine, and the ribs & pulled-pork are as fine as anyone else, even in the highly-regarded states (TX, SC, NC, etc.) have to offer.

Stated Well. Vince prepares succulent ribs -- no fat, no waste. The meat is just tender enough. His wide array of sauces give the diner plenty to choose from (I loved the Texas Hot). The ambiance could be better. It would be nice to have a server take our order and wait on us. However, the price would perhaps be higher. The value for the dollar and food is unequalled anywhere else in the area.
