Tips for Stevie Ray's Blues Bar

December 27, 2012

I am a regular at Stevie Ray's. Two of the negative posts are old and should be corrected. Todd, the manager is gone. So, he can't insult you any longer. I never took it to heart though. All of Louisville is now "NON smoking" so the smoking issues have ended. You can still smoke outside or in the patio in back. Someone stole a radio from my truck 12 years ago, probably in the same location mentioned by BOSEROCK. The building across the street from Stevie Ray's was vacant for many years, it has now been remodelled and opened again. It is a "non alchoholic" bar..Not sure I can say the area is safer now, but most of the construction dumpsters, cordoned off areas are gone from this block. Thursday nite is my favorite, the house band ..Extracted from Little T and A are always good, Amy thinks she is Mick Jagger.. The second set, is usually a compilation of local musicians, Might enjoy, might be time to leave.. Luck of the draw after 10:30 on Thurs

Very Dangerous Area. The bar is nice. But I will never return there since this past Monday night, my truck was parked less than 100ft from the door, and someone cut my Catalytic Convertor right out from under the truck and walked/drove away. Nobody saw people with a saw cutting underneath my truck? Wow! I would say they could get away with murder in this part of town. Don't go!!

A night of no alcohol and a rude manager. My friend and I order a drink at the bar. We tasted no alcohol in the our drinks. Alerted the bartender. She told us to order a double instead. We refused. We wanted what we paid for. Alcohol in our drinks. The manager Todd came over and was very rude. He told us people do this all the time to get free drinks. If there was alcohol in the drinks to begin with, people would not complaint. He shouted WATCH ME!!! when he poured us another drink then slammed the drinks down and yelled ARE WE HAPPY NOW!!!!! 3 times.. Nice Management

Good music, bad smoke. Stevie Ray's has great blues music if that's the kind you like. On occasion, a name performer will do a concert. One nice thing is there's a garden area in back where you can get a bit of fresh air. Too bad the smokers don't go out there- it's a terrible thing that musicians and singers have to be exposed to such dreadful levels of secondhand smoke. There is an alternative- The Jazz Factory, although the two are different. No dancing at Jazz Factory and not as bluesy.

The Best!. I always look for a local blues club when I travel. What a find Stevie Ray's is! It is the best local blues venue I have been to. I spent 6 nights in Louisville and 4 night were at Stevie Ray's. The cover charge was inexpensive on friday and Saturday nights and the watresses were gorgeous. Thank you Mindy and Sarah for adding to the pleasure of this great blues venue.

Far and away Louisville's most popular blues bar.. The Scene
Stevie Ray's ongoing success allows it to book only top touring acts, such as Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets and Roomful of Blues. Louisville has many of its own local blues bands, too, and the best are regularly added to the mix. The crowd gets especially large and rowdy on weekend nights, when the bar's dance floor teems with young singles on the prowl.

The Draw
The bartenders dole out all sorts of beer and mixed drinks, but strong margaritas are what they do best. This place is all about blues and booze. If you're looking for quiet conversation or a rousing game of pool, go somewhere else.
