The Scene
People have flocked to this neighborhood joint since 1941, and although it's been under new ownership since 2001, the same black and white decor, chrome accents and pierced, tattooed and disaffected staff remains. Personalities blend in this small diner, from teenagers to daily regulars. Belly up to the counter if you don't feel like waiting for a table on the weekends when it gets packed.
The Food
While the menu is extensive, breakfast is your best bet, since you can get it anytime. Whether it's the basic French toast sprinkled with powdered sugar or the Denver scramble chock-full of veggies and ham, make sure to get the obligatory side of Twig Taters, crisp mini-hash browns. For lunch, the Kentucky Hot Brown--piled high with turkey, bacon, cheesy sauce and melted cheddar--is the most popular. Bring your appetite, portions are huge.

This is, in fact, a non-smoking restaurant. As of July 1, 2007, No smoking will be allowed in any Indoor public place in Louisville. There has been a ban for a few years on smoking in any establishment that does not make as least 51% of their profit from the sale of alcohol. 'The Twig' does not sell alcohol.

The Twig and Leaf restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can order breakfast at any time. Make sure you order their hash browns, called Twig's Tators, because they are delicious. I like their breakfast the best. The menu has a wide variety of items. This place is located in a nice area on Bardstown Road, and has been at this same location for a long time. It attracts a nice mixture of older and younger people. You can sit at a table or at the counter and eat. Weekends can get very crowded. The place is completely non-smoking now. Parking spaces are located behind the restaurant.

They servers are rude and the food isn't even that great. It is just overpriced sandwiches. Go to Subway and get more for your money. If you do choose to eat here, know what you want to order before you get to the front, otherwise they will be mad at you!
