Great burgers and very friendly local pub--great value. My family and I went for burgers and fries to celebrate my birthday and left with a new favorite place to visit for an inexpensive tasty meal. The place was friendly with lots of local/regulars (families and such) eating, chatting, watching football -- a good sign as we walked in. If you are looking for fancy, this is not the place to go. If you are looking for a relaxed place to have beer and burger without any pretense, this is it. The burgers were well-prepared. The fries and onion rings were fresh and good. There were a variety of beers on tap, and plenty more in bottles. Don't let the front of the restaurant fool you. I had passed this place for years and never walked in. Now I know what I have been missing! This is a place for simple. down-home pub fare and great prices. We had a good meal for three for less than $10 per person. I can't wait to come for a lunch and other meals. Maybe I will take my U of L students there... it is a good place to hang out with a beer and a burger and friends.

Don't forget to go up to the bar to order....after that, you'll get served at your table.

Germantown takes pride in its excellent taverns. And, with its outstanding brats and burgers, this establishment is clearly the king.. The Scene
The interior's wood paneling is covered by photographs of customers and local celebrities, Kentucky Derby champions and, most prominently, the cafe's founder, Barney Dillman. When you hear a waitress shout your order—"Brat!"—that's when you know you're at Check's.

The Food
Check's continues its founder's many traditions, chiefly delicious food and cold beer at ridiculously cheap prices. Where else can you get an awesome bowl of bean soup, a great cheeseburger, and a pint of beer for under $10?

Dish to Die For
The chili is hot, hearty and delicious.
