My son has been seeing Dr. Dreszer or one of the LPN's for seven years at the Preston office. Only one time have we ever had a long wait and that was a same day appointment. They see my son frequently because he has Down syndrome and suffers from chronic ear infections. A few times I have been in the office with people who expect to be seen same day in 15 minutes. This is a busy practice and I would expect to wait. I have at other Drs offices who did not even accept Passport or Medicaid. Thank you to the office for being so friendly to us.
Indifferent about childen's health.
I had been planning to switch doctors' offices and this morning when my son woke up wheezing, I gave him a breathing treatment and called the new office. He wasn't gasping for air so it didn't seem like a trip to the emergency room was necessary. I asked if they could see a new patient on short notice and explained the circumstances. They told me they might be able to see him later in the day but they would have to check on his insurance and shot records. In the meantime, they told me because he was wheezing, to go ahead and have him seen at his current office asap to make sure it wasn't serious. I called his current office, pediatric and neonatal specialists at 8:45 and made an appointment for 10:15. I waited for my husband to drive home from work and then drove to my son's appointment. Soon after I signed in, the receptionist called me to the counter. She told me my sonn could not be seen. I asked, " why not?" She told me because another pediatrician's office had requested his shot records. I told her I had just made an appointment 90 minutes ago. She said "our doctors feel if you have reason enough to switch doctors, they cannot see you." I told her that I had driven 30 minutes to get there, and that was one of the reasons I was switching, and, more importantly, my son was wheezing. She said, I'm sorry the doctors won't see you, that's our policy. I asked to speak to one of the doctors and was told I couldn't. I asked to speak with a manager and she told me to hold on. She proceeded to walk over to the manager and tell her what happened--and I overheard her saying nasty remarks about me. A few seconds later, she asked me to sit down and the manager would see me soon. I waited 20 minutes for the manager to come out and tell me that, while the person behind the desk may not have explained it well, that was their policy. She tested my son's blood oxygen level in the lobby to confirm it was acceptable. She then told me that "he does seem to be wheezing so he should be seen today. You can take him down to Kosair or check with the immediate care centers in the area." I left in total disbelief. After being my son's doctor for 1 and 1/2 years, they could not have confirmed in a more obvious way that they were a terrible pediatrician's office. Thankfully, when I explained what happened to the new office, they were also dumbfounded and told me I could go ahead and bring him in.
.
Bring a sleeping bag and an ice chest your in for a longwait. Same day appts are only if your child qualifies. Same day appts have to wait over and hour to be "worked" in. I don't understand their scheduling! Why would they tell you to come in at 9:30 am with a sick child only to let you sit there spreading your contagions for over an hour as patient after patient is being seen before you. I am so furious with this I am going to find a new office.
i would never recomend. we had been patients for 5 years after my pediatrician became a missionary. I have 5 children the oldest is 26 and youngest is 3. After 5 years of seeing the same extremely rude dr.(Dreszer) these people still did not know who we were. My 3 year old's lung collapsed and he was hospitalized for a week . After he was released we went to the office for a follow up and was treated like he just had nothing major so I took my 3 year old to a different Dr.. for 2nd opinion(thank god) and had not changed my 9 year old to the new Dr.yet. A couple of weeks later the 9 year old became ill and I called Dr.Dreszer's office for him to be seen because I had not changed him to the new Dr. and they refused him a visit because the 3 year old was no longer a patient there,so they would not see my 9 year old then became extremely rude and wanted to know about my daughter and why had she not been there in a while. I told them as far as I know she was to old to come there, being that she is 22 years old!! I now take the to the pediatricians at the portland family health center and they are wonderful and they already know who we are. My 3 year old has been put on several meds and has not had pneumonia since or any asthma attacks.!! Dr. Aquino is fantastic. She is thorough , takes her time. and really seems to care. I would not take my fish to Dr. Dreszer or any of their other offices all they seem to care about is their quota.I had to give them 1 star because it would not allow me to give no star.
Do Not Take Your Child There.
I'm a first time mom and the hostiptal recommended this office b/c it was near my house. My son was 1 week when we took him to the doc. They have a sick area and well area but, people sat where they please. After about 45 mins we got called back to the back ( which is not very clean) they had me undress my son and take him out in the cold hallway to weigh him on the scale.
I had to ask the nurse to repeat herself several times she was talking so fast and did not speak good english. Finally when the doctor (Dreszer) came in he handled my son(1 week) like a sack of potatoes.
I had plenty of questions being a 1st time mom and he answered most of my questions with I don't know and there is a 1000 ways to swat a fly. I wanted to hurt him. After my unhelpful appontiment I asked for my sons history back and never have I taken my son there. Being a baby/child doc you don't act like that.
I love his doctor now(Jtown pediatric) it may be out of the way but worth every penny of gas. You can understand everyone and they will set in there with you and answer any question for you and she treats my son like he was her own.
Horrible doctors. these doctors are horrible! they mis diagnosed my daughter, they told me that she was perfectly fine and 2 hours later she was admitted to kosair hospital because i trusted my instincts and i am glad i did.
Dr. Osborne. I have to defend Pediatric Neonatal Specialists. My son is a patient of Dr. Osborne @ the Broadway office. I can honestly say that I've never had to wait long for my son to be seen. I will admit that the staff is not overly friendly, but they are no different from the staff @ any other doctor's office that I have been to. I like the fact that Dr. O means business and she is direct and to the point. My son has cried only once when he has had shots. That's because they give them so quickly and efficiently. I have been disapppointed a couple of times, but that was only because Dr. O was not in and my son had to be seen by someone else. When my son has gotten sick and I needed to make same day appointments, they have been excellent @ getting him in. I also love the fact that the on call nurse was there for me immediately and answered all my questions and was able to direct me pediatric acute care for after hours care and I didn't have a long wait there either. I would much rather go to a doctor's office that had 3 star customer service but provided excellent care than to go to one that gives 5 star customer service and not much else. My child's well being is much more important thatn that.
Not new mom friendly. This Pediatric office is very slow, never less than an hour wait to see a doctor. The office staff is very rude and do not communicate well with each other or patients. The phycicians are always in a hurry making it hard for new moms to ask questions or express concerns. Bedside manner could use some improvement, they are more interested in you holding your child down to be seen rather than interacting with the child to make them feel comfortable. I would look elsewhere for a Pediatrician and always make sure you ask for a tour before designating a Doctor on your insurance policy. If any office refuses a tour or you feel uncomfortable during a tour, check out other offices before making a decision
