High prices, very restrictive return policy, there are better shops to spend your money.. If you visit Hobby Town USA is Louisville, expect to find more staff than shoppers and this review will help understand why. A few things to know about Hobby Town USA. It is not a chain. Each location is a franchise and each seems to operate under its own set of rules depending on the owner. Don't expect to buy something in Louisville and return it in Lexington. The prices at the Louisville location are mostly at retail, some items have marginal discounts if they are on closeout. In today's world, there is no reason to pay retail for any hobby purchases. Local competitors and on-line retailers almost all discount. Be careful about the 30 day return policy, the owner of the Louisville store (Lee) adheres to it strictly. He says this is because of the new system, but I question if this is the full story. The shop staff can be helpful if asked but are not empowered to do anything. Don't bother asking about product availability or if something can be ordered. If you are looking for RC, drive a few more miles to Scale Reproductions and experience better prices, a helpful staff and a generous return policy. If you are looking for model trains, try L&N trains or Scale Reproductions. If you want to deal with a chain, Hobby Lobby is a good option and they run 40% off coupons in the paper and on-line every other week.
