view & uploadDelicious. I have always had a wonderful experience at Proof on Main. From the service to the food everything has always been great.
mix up. I had a glass of wine and my friends had wine and appetizers, I paid my check last which was 15.60, somehow the entire bill ended up on me! Thats right a glass of wine cost me 160 dollars. But when I went in with my receipt the manager was very nice about the whole thing, he said hed take care of it and give me a call. Well its after six now and nothing has been taken care of. That mix up cost me a lot of money
Amazing experience.
I'm not sure if I went to the same restaurant as the reviewer before me but I had the total opposite experience. Our server was casual but knowledgeable and friendly. Our food was amazing. Everything we had was presented nicely and was cooked to perfection. The mussel special was a true delight. They have a great selection of wine as well. The manager came over to us during our meal to make sure that everything was going well.
We were in town for work on a show and it was our last week with the show and both Reggie the manager, and Emily the event director were kind enough to accomodate us with a party after the show. They provided adequate staff and everyone who came (around 30 people) were happy both with the service and the food and drink.
One of the highlights is being able to experience the gallery that they have attached to the restaurant. You can browse around and look at art while having a drink. Some of it is interactive which makes it fun. Also, the rest room waterfall walls are a treat.
I would definitely make a point of going here whether visiting town or if you live here.
Worst Louisville Restaurant. My husband and I dined at Proof on Main on October 23, 2008. We moved to Louisville three years ago and we have tried many restaurants in the suburbs. This is the greatest restaurant city. We do not usually venture downtown to restaurants. We have eaten at Vincenzo?s, which is WONDERFUL, but that is the only downtown restaurant we have frequented. So, we decided to try another restaurant not in the suburbs. Selecting Proof on Main proved to be a mistake. It was the worst dining experience we have had in all of Louisville. We selected Thursday night. I ordered the duck and my husband ordered steak. The first clue should have been when the bread was delivered without butter and dropped haphazardly on the table. At the time, we thought that was funny. Then, both our meals were served cold by a person designated to deliver the meals, not our waiter. It was disgusting to try to eat them. In addition, the flavor of the duck did not match that we have had at 211 Clover in St. Matthews. Sadly, we happened to get a waiter that was a student and acquaintance working his way through college. Rather than cause any hardship for him, we paid our $135.00 bill and returned home to eat cereal for dinner. However, we did bring home the cold meat to be used in a future homemade soup. In addition, the noise in the restaurant was so loud; it was difficult to hold a conversation. If we enjoyed it, we had discussed taking friends to dinner there. We could not imagine six people trying to carry on a conversation in such a decibel level. Overall, there are a lot of cute gimmicks that try to mimic experiences in major cities, but the food is not worth the trip. Just go for drinks.
