Never Again.
For over 5 years I have visited this store. Prices are a tad higher than I would like, but the customer service *was* exceptional. All that is out the window, now, as one incident with the owner has soured me for life. I refuse to buy anything from that store ever again. It was *that* bad.
The owner, Mohammad, is the worst-possible person to work at his store, from a customer service standpoint. After purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of equipment, when I brought something back, to see if there was an issue with it, I was treated horrible, having been gawked at, and told it "was not their problem." His staff (son and daughter, very awesome people!) tried to fix the issue, and I am grateful for that.
The son, while not technically on duty, was awesome- testing the equipment to see if the issue was something with a part I bought, or something I already had. He determined the issue was most likely the main board. So, I spent more money, and bought a main board, as well as a SATA DVD Burner, since the one I already had was IDE. I gladly paid the service fee for the son to instal the motherboard, just to make sure I didn't do anything wrong.
Turns out, the main board was NOT the issue, so I asked if I could return the no-longer-needed parts for in-store credit. I was told yes by the lady at the desk (can't recall her name, but she's the usual point of contact there, and ALWAYS friendly and professional). However, Mohammad once more demonstrated his poor customer service skills, and demanded I pay an $89 service fee for the parts I had tested (mind you, at the time, we ALL thought the issue was most likely with the case or the power supply I bought for it, both of which were bought from that store the previous day).
Insane. Despite living right around the corner from the place and the awesome staff, they have lost me permanently. I suspect the owner simply does not like returns, which is fine. There should be a no-return policy if that is the case.
Perhaps the owner just isn't a people-person. Perhaps he was having a bad day. I don't know. Regardless, this is no way to treat a customer, especially one who has been shopping there for years, and has referred clients there. They dropped the ball, and I will make sure to let all my friends know.
There are local stores with FAR cheaper prices (on most things- I have to admit, Simtechs has the lowest price on a few things, but with very limited selection). Not to mention, I can go online and buy better products for cheaper than offered at this place. I try not to, because I like to have a good customer-company rapport with whom I shop, and I try to support local businesses. Mohammad made sure that it will no longer be his business I support.
I could go to Best Buy if I wanted this level of crappy service.
