This shiny riverfront colossus contains several theaters ranging from the Whitney Hall with seating for 2400 to the intimate "black box" MeX Theater (capacity 139). – History
Having hosted everyone from Bob Dylan to Yo Yo Ma, The Kentucky Center for the Arts is home to the Louisville Orchestra, the Louisville Ballet, the Kentucky Opera, and Stage One Children's Theater, in addition to sharing custody of the Broadway Series with the Louisville Palace. The Lonesome Pine Special series presents a great collection of American and world music by emerging artist; it brought Lyle Lovett and Allison Kraus to Louisville before they became stars and is the chief outlet for Les Tetes Brulees and Mahlithini and the Mahotella Queens. The Kentucky Center also includes a busy Bristol Bar & Grille outlet, a gift shop, and a substantial collection of art by Joan Miro, Louise Nevelson, Jean Dubuffet, and Alexander Calder.
