Baxter Avenue off Bardstown by S.J. B. at InsiderPages

This is kind of a shady place, but a good place to see foreign films, indenpendant films and other films you can't find in the normal theatres. I personally don't care for the area and I think there are some strange people walking around that theatre, but if you are into artsy types of movies, then this is the place to be.

The Baxter Avenue Theater is my favorite theater because they (of course) show movies, but they also show some not-as-well-known films. They also have local gatherings where people from Louisville gather and have fun when a local or national event happens. It isn't as big or fancy as some of the other major theaters, but it is located in a central location and is a perfect location for my friends and myself to hang out with each other.
- Pros: Location, Parking, Selection, Service
- Cons: It isn't as well-known as some other theaters

Baxter Ave Theater is great because they play a mix of the new blockbusters along with foreign and independent films. It is in the heart of the artsy Highlands neigbhorhood so it is a great place to catch a movie and then go out to a great restaurant or bar. It might not have the hugest screens or fancy concessions like the larger chain theaters, but the staff is friendly and believe it or not, people come here to actually watch a movie. Even on weekend nights when there are lots of teens about, I've never been disturbed in a movie by loud talking. Keep a watch for the different film festivals they have throughout the year and their midnight cult movies.
- Pros: Great selection of movies that aren't playing elsewhere in town, movie festivals
- Cons: not the newest most expensive theater in town
Any time you wanna see and Indie film you know where to go

Although sometimes the person taking your ticket looks like he needs a haircut, the atmosphere is great, the street is it on is covered with interesting shops, and they always have at least one movie showing that isn't showing anywhere else in town. Great place to see the newest anime or political commentary.
- Pros: Great movie choice and part of town.
- Cons: high prices, consessions aren't that great
