Not happy AT ALL!!! EXTREMELY OVER PRICED!!
by BilSarGo at Citysearch
I took my wife here for her birthday. Based on some of the other reviews figured it was going to be great! ... Bad choice! I called and made our reservation and was told there was a dress code, I'm thinking "Great, classy, fine dining" Boy was I wrong!! First, WITH A RESERVATION!!! We waited almost an hour!!!! Then we get to our table and no more that sit down and 4 people who looked like they were on their way to a street fight or maybe a rap concert (2 guys wearing baggy pants, butts hanging out, T-shirts and tennis shoes. The 2 ?ladies? dressed like street walkers!! shirts with their chest hanging out the top and of course, ALL are wearing sunglasses at 8 p.m. INSIDE A BUILDING!!!) are seated right next to us... A few F bombs, GD's, and a continuous string of Mother F,er this and that... We asked to be moved, and we got to sit at a table that wasn't cleaned yet... OK, fine lets just make the best of it right? We order and after the reviews, how could you go wrong with the filet and a T-bone? My wife ordered the filet medium, she received a HUGE ball of meat the size of a softball! It was literally charred on the outside and ice cold and bloody in the middle. I ordered a T-bone also medium. I received a T-bone with the entire filet side trimmed off and it was 2 ? inches thick, also burnt and cold and bloody in the middle! We sent them back and what we got (about 45 minutes later!!) was 2 completely burnt, leathery, dry pieces of trash! And a check for $150!! They took off the sides (which were over cooked as well!!) The best thing was the seared ahi tuna, our VERY apologetic server, and the view! Look at the reviews... 2 HORRIBLE ones in the last 2 months and the last Good one was over a year and a half ago!
- Pros: The seared ahi tuna, our VERY apologetic server, and the view
- Cons: Price, food, and the so called "dress code"
Best management team anywhere!

I have been dining at Ruth's Chris for years-- and I am really surprised at the previous reviews. First of all, these types of restaurants have standards! For instance, if a party has made reservations, the state of the art system knows exactly what time you arrive, when you have eaten there before, any comments you have made etc... therefore say you did happen to have a bad experience one time- the next time, management would know this and be prepared to call you by name, seat you right away, and maybe even offer you a free app! As far as the 5" steaks comment- you can't seriously be complaining! If you want a 1" steak, go to Ponderosa. The filet, which is what I usually order, tastes like velvet in your mouth! It is USDA prime beef, the best anywhere. In fact, out of all the times that I have eaten at this restaurant, only once was my steak undercooked, I called the GM over, and he took care of it right away. He was congenial, friendly, and super professional. In fact, they always take care of us when we go there. One of the other managers even takes the time to visit our table and suggest a glass or bottle of wine that compliments our meal. They visit the tables constantly- so perhaps if you had a problem, you should have mentioned it, had it taken care of, and left the restaurant happy the way we always do! Don't FLY to a website and say nasty things about a place-- realize that mistakes happen- they happen at your bank, at the post office, even at the grocery store--- but no where in the history of all human frailty, have I seen a mangement team so willing and eager to make your experience a truly memorable one. (P.S. The time it takes to cook a medium steak is around 15 minutes, and any good server knows to have that re-cooked steak at the table immiedately so 45 minutes for anyone's steak to be re-cooked is complete BS, and you can bet the previous reviewers called the restaurant and spat that little lie in order to get something for free!)
- Pros: Valet Parking, Friendly staff, wonderful views.
- Cons: NONE
A reputation that died years ago!!!
by SciFi123 at Citysearch
After reading positive reviews, to say that we were disappointed is an understatement. To start with;
Even though I RSVP'd 2 days in advance, and arrived early, we waited nearly 45 minutes AFTER our reservation time, to be seated. This was, by far, the WORST experience we have ever had. We were seated next to a group of adults/teens who were dressed very inappropriately, not at all what you would expect to see in a ?fine dining restaurant?. This group was extraordinarily rude, offensive, and disrespectful. Shouting at each other and cursing. We asked to be moved and were told that there were no tables available. The appetizer we ordered was great and the salad was good, but when our dinner arrived? All of the side dishes were extremely over cooked. The filets were both supposed to be medium, but came out charred and ice cold and bloody inside. Probably due to the fact that they were 5? thick!! My wife had to send her filet back *TWICE* because it was still cold and bloody inside. When it got back to the table for the 3rd time (50 minutes later) it was BURNT, tough and inedible. I would rather have a little thinner cut of meat that can be cooked right the first time! We showed it to our waiter, and his comment was "I did not cook it? For $ 170.00 WE WILL NEVER GO AGAIN, VERY DISAPPOINTING NIGHT. These people are living on a reputation of good food and good service that died many years ago.
- Pros: appetizer and the salad
- Cons: the people and the PRICE!!!!!
Best thing is the veiw
by hungry6 at Citysearch
Boy...all of us were disappointed. Comments from our table..the Oysters Rockefeller were absolutely terrible, could only eat one...the crab cakes were the worst he has ever had...the green beans were good,
though. The Caesar salad was bland, the cheese wafer that came with it was stale and rubbery discussing...I tasted it..the shrimp cocktail was pathetic.. the creamed spinach tasted like it was out of a can.
A rib eye steak was sent back for a cold center....came back again, could not eat it...the server was courteous, and the manager was apologetic. We did not order dessert or coffee...we just got out of there.
The only good things were the Manhattans, green beans, and the view....we will never go again, and will never recommend it to anyone.
- Pros: Drinks and the view
- Cons: very over rated....too expensive for what you get
Sophisticated American chain serves up corn-fed USDA prime cuts and New Orleans-style appetizers and sides.
by Tara Lis at Citysearch
In Short
This offshoot of a popular New Orleans hangout for politicians features decor of dark woods and comfortable booths, with a separate bar scene. Choice cuts of custom-aged beef arrive in sizzling butter on 500-degree plates. The menu also offers chicken, pork and seafood entrees along with Creole appetizers like shrimp remoulade. Family-style sides include gargantuan onion rings, creamed spinach and various styles of potatoes. Traditional homemade desserts like cheesecake and bread pudding conclude the meal.
best filet yet

The service is outstanding, the side dishes are good, but to date this was the BEST filet I have ever eaten. Perfectly seared on the outside and deliciously medium inside. I will be back.
- Pros: excellent steak
- Cons: none
A Wonderful Dining Experience
by TheRuffners at Citysearch
Expensive? Sure. One would expect such quality to come at a premium.
After dining in many Ruth's Chris locations, (and finding the Columbus, Ohio store to be the best of the best), my husband and I recently ate at the Louisville location for the first time. We were simply delighted, as we could not have been treated more wonderfully if we'd been Royalty. Managers Kevin Anderson and Anthony Hensley created a lovely atmosphere of class and warmth, making sure every attention to detail was looked after.
The food was scrumptious our steaks fairly melting with tenderness. Our sides and appetizers were created to perfection, even though I'd requested a few "tweaks." And the staff, (from our waiter Jim, to our busser Ricky,) were so caring and warm, that we left feeling like family. We'll never visit Louisville without a stop at this amazing restaurant.
- Pros: Wonderful staff, Elegant Atmosphere, Delicious Food
- Cons: Tables too close

- Pros: perfect steak, outdoor seating
- Cons: pricey, a la carte
Waste of Time
by Joedrink at Citysearch
Lack in culinary excellence. I have eaten at 3 of these locations... glorified commericial restaurant. Over priced and not superior excellence that one deserves with such a bill. Adequate service, I mean u get your food. If I just have to eat a steak and there was a wait at Outback, I might bite the bullet and eat at Ruth's Chris...but not as long as there is a Pat's Steakhouse in Louisville.
- Pros: Clean setting
- Cons: Over priced, Preparation of Meal
