this zoo is great . the gorilla exhibit is worth the trip it is the best gorilla exhibit in the us. there is nothing like it, make sure you see jojo a big silverback gorilla. he is always the star of the show. They also have a butterfly exhibit that is out of this world. They actually land on you if your still.they have pigmy hippos and a great play area for the kids. they have trick or treating in the fall. great fun.

The Louisville Zoo is more than just another zoo. More than 1,300 animals from around the globe are featured in naturalistic and mixed-animal settings, creating a well-rounded environment for both visitors and inhabitants.
Features
Horticulturists re-create environments of the Indonesian islands, African grasslands and Asian plains. Tapirs, orangutans and Komodo dragons mix among the trees, rocks and simulated beaches of Malaysia. The Herpaquarium holds more than 100 species of reptiles, amphibians and fish in ecologically balanced surroundings. Check out the black-footed ferret, woolly monkeys, polar bears, Siberian tigers, maned wolves and white rhinos--all play a huge part in the zoo's conservation and species survival programs. Also at the zoo: train rides, snack bars, a gift shop and amphitheater.
