Louisville Zoo by Trinda T. at InsiderPages

As a family we love zoos and go to one whenever we go somewhere that has one. The Louisville zoo is not very big compared to other zoos we've been to and they have hardly any area for stopping to rest for a little while. They have tried to get the animals into a more natural habitat which is good, though steps up in front would be great for younger children who can;t see as well as older taller kids. The zoo is also entirely on a hillside so if you're going with grandparents ,make sure they are up for the hike uphill. Parking is easy with plenty available and prices are comparable to other zoos. They often have specail events for kids around holidays so be sure to watch the paper for news of those.
Stunning landscapes create ecologically sound habitats for a variety of species ranging from pygmy hippos to Siberian tigers.

Facts
The Louisville Zoo is more than just another zoo. More than 1,300 animals from around the globe are featured in naturalistic and mixed-animal settings, creating a well-rounded environment for both visitors and inhabitants.
Features
Horticulturists re-create environments of the Indonesian islands, African grasslands and Asian plains. Tapirs, orangutans and Komodo dragons mix among the trees, rocks and simulated beaches of Malaysia. The Herpaquarium holds more than 100 species of reptiles, amphibians and fish in ecologically balanced surroundings. Check out the black-footed ferret, woolly monkeys, polar bears, Siberian tigers, maned wolves and white rhinos--all play a huge part in the zoo's conservation and species survival programs. Also at the zoo: train rides, snack bars, a gift shop and amphitheater.
