Z Salon will Pamper you!
by hlisashipley at Citysearch
First time visitor at Z Salon (4th Street location). Fantastic experience! Was recommended by a friend and I enjoyed 3 hours of pampering! All the staff were so helpful and gave incredible service. I was completely satisfied leaving the salon and have already recommended it to several friends who have seen my new look. The cuts are a particularly great value! I'll just mention 2 tips: specify which location you are booking at when you call (the call-center is located in one place), also the bad hair cut mentioned in another review was given by a "New Talent" hair designer...so count the cost and if you go with New Talent, you'll most likely get a great cut, but you may not. I decided to go with an Advanced Designer and for the extra $10 I think it's worth it to be certain I'm going to walk away satisfied!
- Pros: Great Value, Exceptional Service, Experienced Staff
- Cons: Parking (at 4th St.), Some pressure to buy
Very happy with downtown servcies

I used Aveda top talent in my former location. I was afraid to use a younger talent but they only had an opening with a younger stylist. She's great though. I've been to her twice and she's just confident and patient. She fixed the mess a stylist on Bardstown made of my hair...someone with no initiative, and who cost more (!) So it's Kelly. She's great and the cost is soooo reasonable for what I'm getting. I mean I just look great leaving there and great two days and two weeks later. Being new in town is hard but again I could count on the Aveda plan. I'm not sure what some of the criticisms on this page are about but you can hardly go wrong. And if they do mistake, I'm sure they'll fix it.
- Pros: Good talent all around, cozy environment
Never Been There but HATE it already

Recently moved to Louisville and received a gift certificate from a friend to Z Salon undoubtedly to assist me in my transition to a new hair salon. WHAT A JOKE! I can't even get in to spend the $200! The worst part is that my friend wasted her money on it and I would rather light the gift certificate on fire than use it. Receptionists are RUDE! I am quite accustomed to paying a lot for my hair for top salons in Atlanta. Even with the owner of Jamison Shaw, I had better luck booking! I am inclined to send my friend $200 and tell her that unfortunately trying to direct me to a good salon in my new hometown failed miserably. Z Salon is a joke.
- Pros: Have Gift Certificate
- Cons: Can't get in to get rid of the money my friend spent
Great Facial by Bella
by henaandavery at Citysearch
I received a facial from Bella the Wed before Derby and was very impressed. The facility is top notch and what I received was much more than I expected! Not only do you get a facial but hand paraffin wax, sauna & a mini massage. I highly recommend checking them out.
- Pros: Very relaxing & professional

Amazing Massage
by Kristen54 at Citysearch
I've had many massages and the massage I received from Leslie at Z salon and spa was exceptional! The atmosphere and service was relaxing and high quality. I definitely recommend Z for Spa services.
- Pros: Skill, price, quality.
- Cons: None that I saw.
They forgot: The customer makes the business, without us you will have lots of openings on your schedule!

looking for a new place to get my haircut and loving the atmosphere at Z, I thought I'd give it a try again. The receptionist was incredilby rude and truly forgetting that it is the customer who makes the business! I was told that there was no way tht I could have an "artistic" haircut in the next three weeks, and of course once you know about the best do you really want the beginers???? what a terrible way to separte your "talent" Won"t you always feel second or third best unless you pay the $150.00 for the plus talented???
Also after explaining that I was having surgery in two weeks, the receptionist still said "there's just no way to get a haircut before then" PLEASE are you really that busy??????? dont worry though you have one less customer here for sure
Office Manager needs to learn internet customer service
by spacritiquegal at Citysearch
Get this- I received bad customer service even before going! I just moved here and am looking for a new salon. Most salons that I've seen advertised (I'm talking about nice, classy salons like Aveda) offer 15-20% discounts as a first-time customer incentive. I also had a question about the style of massage I had seen on the website, because the website didn't give a very detailed description. I shot an e-mail to the salon, asking if they offer first-time incentives, and asked about the possibility of a Swedish massage, and also asked about scheduling me and my friend to have a spa day together and what kind of options and rates could go with that. (I have taken office management courses and learned how to write respectful e-mails that are friendly, yet straight to the point) Also, the reason why I had to e-mail was because the office phone said they were close, which was wrong from the open times listed the website. Anyways, the message I got back was like this (no greeting at all) "We don't give any discounts. You can look at our packages on the website" It didn't really help much, and she could have given an explanation of why they didn't give any incentives. I don't want to commit to an appointment at a salon I've never been to and pay full price! Maybe I'll still try it, and then I can write a more thorough review on the experience.
- Pros: I haven't been there before, but anything Aveda is usually a pro
- Cons: Unfriendly customer service.
MEGHAN - WANT THE BEST HAVE HER CUT YOUR HAIR
by ILOVECOMPUTERS at Citysearch
Z-SALON ON BARDSTOWN ROAD IS THE BEST. I HAVE BEEN TO BOTH.
SINCE BARDSTOWN IS SMALLER, THE EXPERIENCE A MORE INTIMATE.
MEGHAN, CUT MY HAIR FOR THE FIRST TIME AND AFTER FORTY YEARS I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE TO CUT IT THE WAY I LIKE IT.
I RECOMEND HER TO ALL. SORRY FOR CAPS I DONT SEE WELL.
FRANK GRUBER
- Pros: BARDSTOWN MORE INTIMATE
- Cons: NONE
I tried! I promise!

So I've been to the Z salon before, the one on Shelbyville Road, with an 'advanced' hair stylist (they fixed an awful haircut I got at a local mall salon). Anyway, the treatment was great, the ambience was fabulous though I wasn't completely satisfied with the haircut. I guess I figured it was better than the other place and it was actually less expensive. I decided to go to the bardstown salon several weeks later since it was closer. I got my hair done by 'new talent'. This time, I had read the reviews on this website and was out to see if I could prove them wrong. I asked for something different and specifically pointed out a picture in a magazine they had there. The stylist talked a great deal about layers and what needed to be improved etc. Well...I new that it wouldn't look exactly like the picture since I'm not that person...however...the "new talent" actually gave me the same cut as the last person except for the top layer. I even specifically asked for the bottom layer to be shorter and not so seperated from the rest of the layers...she really didn't do that either. Since I asked for a 'piecey' cut, I guess that meant I wanted my hair "styled" I ended up paying a lot more money for some really awful gel to be mixed into my hair which ended up doing nothing for my hair except make it feel nasty. I left terribly disappointed looking exactly the same as I did going into the salon (again...even with the nasty gel I didn't look any different). When I got home and my husband opened the door he said, "I thought you went to get your hair done...?" *sigh* I guess this is another bad review. sorry z salon. I think people might be disillusioned by the fact that the ambience, hand massages, and scented oils are so nice. But...the fact is... you're going there for your hair. Take another look in the mirror if you've been or after you go. Do you REALLY like the way it turned out? Or did you like the experience?
- Pros: great atmosphere!
- Cons: stop asking me if I want a drink!
Worst Spa and salon ever, best looking and most ambient!

Z is by far one of the nicest cleanest and most ambiant places to go to get your spa services and hair done but, the employees are rude and snobby. They dont know how to treat their employees, their turnover rate is unbelievable. They would have great potential to be something if they would first LISTEN to what the customer wanted and second DO what the customer wanted. They do all this customer services classes with their employees but the employees never have time to build the rapore. Its almost like an asembly line for hair and such. TO all the employees who work there : We are not washers and dryers being made. We are human and want to be made to feel as though we are the only people on your book and we are the only people that will pay your bills. BRING it Z employees. Make yourselves stand out like the statue does out front.
- Pros: The music , the look of the facility, the general idea
- Cons: the staff, the services, the value of the service to the value of the money
